Terrazzo Tile
Aggregates await.

From Venice to Palm Springs, terrazzo has inspired 500 years of timeless design.
Terrazzo teaches us that more is better. The multifaceted aggregates that adorn the surface of these dynamic designs add depth and diversity to each carefully crafted square. Available in both solids and patterns, there are endless ways to work with these speckled standouts.
Inspired by 500 years of design history, terrazzo originated in Venice and has swept surfaces across the globe ever since. Zia’s terrazzo tiles bring old-world craftsmanship to modern spaces in a carefully designed collection spanning speckled solids and bold patterns.
Zia’s terrazzo tiles are formed within a steel mold, beginning with a mix of natural crushed marble and stone aggregates. These are covered in a layer of liquid cement and hydraulically pressed into a powdered concrete base. Once set, the surface is ground and polished to reveal the decorative stone aggregates while maintaining a smooth, durable finish.
While terrazzo’s aggregates suggest a low maintenance finish, terrazzo tiles are porous and require specific care. To protect the tiles, they must be sealed before and after grouting. For interior installations, we recommend the 511 Porous Plus Sealer and Fila Matte Finish Protective Wax, whereas for outdoor spaces we recommend 511 Porous Plus Sealer.
Using a pH-neutral cleaner and avoiding acidic or abrasive products will help preserve the material and prevent staining. The terrazzo should be re-sealed at least every 1-2 years, or as often as needed depending on traffic and wear. For areas exposed to moisture, you may need to re-seal more often. Always re-seal in accordance with the sealant manufacturer’s instructions.
Sweep or vacuum terrazzo tile regularly to prevent surface abrasion, and promptly clean up any liquid or messier spills. Floors and walls can be wiped or mopped with warm, clean water and a pH-neutral cleaner like Miracle Sealants pH Neutral Tile and Stone Cleaner. For heavier stains, we recommend Miracle Sealants Heavy Duty Cleaner (Acid Substitute). Avoid bleach, vinegar, or anything acidic, which can dull the tiles’ surface over time.
We always recommend working with a pro who knows their way around terrazzo—but here’s what to expect:
Start by blending tiles from every box to evenly distribute natural variation.
Use a high-quality medium-bed thin set and wet the back of each tile before setting.
Press tiles into place with the palm of your hand—no mallets, ever.
Let everything cure, then seal the tiles before grouting.
Grout in small sections using Mapei Flexcolor CQ and wipe clean as you go.
Finish with a topcoat sealer or wax, depending on your space.
